Top Toys Of The Last Year

The movies and cartoon series keep coming and so do the toys. There have been some huge movies in the last few years including Transformers Dark of the Moon, Captain America, and Thor. On the horizon are even bigger movies including The Dark Knight Rises, The Avengers and The Amazing Spiderman. Here's a list of some of my favourite toys from movies over the last 365 days. Transformers toys look like they came straight from the movie. The leader class Optimus Prime from Revenge of the Fallen was and is still one of my favourite toys of all time. For DOTM the Optimus released was the biggest ever made. The Ultimate Optimus Prime has a trailer like the 1984 version and transforms into a monster mech of a robot. However on his own he just doesn't look as cool as the ROTF version. The wave of DOTM toys included the amazing looking leader class Bumblebee and Ironhide toys. They are huge and look amazing. Ironhide especially is one meaty robot. He's got compartments that open up to reveal hidden weapons in true Ironhide style. He stands at around 10 inches tall and transforms into a very cool black pick up truck. For the third movie it wasn't too surprising that Megatron didn't get a leader class figure as there had been one of him for the last two films. That was a bit of a shame as the DOTM Megatron was very cool looking. The voyager version was still quite cool but I didn't bother getting him. Shockwave as a leader class figure would have been awesome but for some reason all he got was a voyager. That spot was taken by Sentinel Prime. I still haven't got this figure but I will as soon as he comes down enough in price. Thor was one of the surprise hits of last year for me. The movie looked like a mixed bag but it really delivered. Chris Hemsworth as Thor was fantastic and I can't wait to see him again in The Avengers this summer. There are some 6 inch Thor toys from the movie with a brilliant likeness of Hemsworth. They of course come with a great big hammer for Thor to swing at his enemies. Captain America was another surprise hit. He got a very cool range of classic looking 3.75 inch figures which although are reduced everywhere are well worth picking up. Much like the Iron Man 2 toy figures before them they are very good representations of the Marvel character.
